Cheers Neil

I've now raised the potential with senior management, and made as many others aware of the possibility of call outs - I can do no more for now

Is this system still set to pass through as forecast or has it been downgraded? I know there is far more interest in snow on the other thread but is this still likely to make the headlines?

To my untrained eye the forecast windspeeds look to have been reduced:

I guess we are awaiting an update to the warnings.

Looks like being a noisy and restless night for a lot of us but we have had worse. It isn't the first time and it certainly won't be the last time when it comes to our climate.

The precipitation has reached here now and it appears to be falling as hail, interspersed with other 'wintry' stuff! Still some snow lying about from last night, not a lot tho..

The storm is upon us now. Focussing on the primary wind threats we have gusty maxima around the CF, so expect 70mph+ gusts even inland as it passes tonight.
Then we have an isobar squeeze especially in the NW Thurs daytime and conditions look horrendous in the Irish Sea around noon.

Red alert issued locally here - storm force winds up to 80mph... gulp, not seen that in a while! They usually undercook it too!

Just back from a venture to the shops.
Getting quite blowy indeed, here in Dublin.

The biggest danger at the moment though, is flying umbrellas.

No doubt there could be some damage later if this keeps up as it is getting very gusty.

A rare red warning issued from Met Eireann is not to be taken lightly.

Not too bad yet currently gusting in the 40 to 45 mph range.

Expected to get 75-80 mph later tonight.

Big sea swell from the West 20ft plus at the moment. That's usually an indication of a storm on the way.

I'm not surprised.
Was just looking at that development.

I'll let you know of the effects from here in Dublin soon enough.

I've been in an ER meeting this evening, so I hadn't realised how much the wind had picked up in the last couple of hours. Just seen that the local weather stn to me, recorded a gust of 41.2 mph around 8pm. Currently averaging around 25 mph, but as I type, the trees in the graveyard are taking on that familiar roar

That front weakened and passed quite quickly.
Mind you, the streets will be nice and clean tomorrow after the wash it gave us on the way.
I decided to go out for a walk during it.
Fantastic.

It does seem to be losing strength as it moves eastward.though.

It has become relatively calm since.
