The cold weather will continue with northerly winds through Wednesday and Thursday likely bringing hail, sleet and snow showers across northern parts and perhaps also to eastern coastal areas, with widespread overnight frosts. There is a low probability of more widespread rain and snow over western parts at this time too. From Friday onwards it is thought that conditions will gradually become more influenced by the Atlantic with temperatures returning nearer to normal, although the transition period will have the potential for further snow in places. Conditions would then settle into a changeable pattern with unsettled periods of weather being interspersed by temporary settled conditions. Towards the middle of February there is a possibility that the more unsettled conditions will shift north, becoming more settled in the south.

UK Outlook for Saturday 14 Feb 2015 to Saturday 28 Feb 2015:

Whilst changeable Atlantic conditions will likely prevail at the start of the period, it currently it looks most probable that a period of more settled weather will become established, at least for a time, across most parts of the UK with slightly drier, and colder conditions than average. Temperatures will be cold across the UK, especially overnight, with frosts likely at times.

The presenter on the BBC web site forecast made a point of saying temperatures wouldn't be far from average tomorrow in the south and showed 6C (42F) in cities to back this up.

BBC website for Wolverhampton is showing snow between midnight and 3am (incl).  I didn't notice this before so I don't know if it's a recent update.  There is a 'blob' heading in between Liverpool and Bangor rather than the rapidly decaying small showers so perhaps it's this that's picked up in those graphics.

It's also worth noting that the local weather forecast on the BBC website has not been updated tonight and it's never updated at all over the weekend.  It will jump from Thursday to Monday - helpful!!

I note the forecasts including the BBC has taken down the snow event for Sunday and Tuesday? - Wasn't there meant to be a polar low and more persistent snow in the SW and Wales!? - Now it looks dry from Sunday.

Nothing has changed. That's what I make of it.

Ian Fergusson mentioned a 30-40% chance of something on Tuesday. Quick mental arithmetic says that's a 60-70% chance it wouldn't happen, and Sunday, Monday was always meant to be dry, unless you missed the bit where the potential for Monday evaporated days ago

Also that T is not a polar low, just a small depression heading SE, as shown on the models for a few days.
