The queen will be moving to Windsor from the 19 March 2020.

I suspect this 'could' mean that a full Lock-down in London will take place from Friday morning.

More good news. Hopefully it will encourage more civilised and intellectual debate.

BBC's Question Time to lose studio audience

Question Time, the BBC's flagship political debate programme, will proceed without an audience during the coronavirus outbreak.

The show, which normally sees political figures and commentators take questions from a studio audience, will also move to a prime time slot on BBC One.

The practicalities of how to continue taking questions is "still being worked on", BBC media editor Amol Rajan said.

A claim by Britain’s chief scientific advisor in testimony to MPs ( reported earlier) that Taiwan has been successful in containing coronavirus without closing schools is at best somewhat disingenuous, at worst inaccurate.

Taiwan was already on winter break for the Chinese Lunar New year holiday when the scale of the threat became evident to its leadership, which includes an epidemiologist, Vice President Chen Chien-jen.

In response, they extended the winter break. They also promised to extend the summer term, so holidays in July would start two weeks later and as a result children wouldn’t lose any of their classroom time. That may have been the basis of the claim by Sir Patrick Vallance, the UK government’s chief scientific advisor.

But there is no question that schools were closed in February when they would normally have been open. And when the closures were announced, the minister of health and welfare Chen Shih-chung specified that disease control specialists had “suggested pushing back the start of classes to reduce the risk of clustered infections,” according to the Taipei Times.

The government even brought in a special type of parental childcare leave “to prevent infection”, for those workers who needed time off to care for school-age kids.

Actually what's the view on freezing? Our butcher is delivering our order tomorrow morning and the Mrs thinks it best to put the uncooked meat straight into the freezer.

If we have to stay at home for prolonged periods, I am thinking how lucky we are to have the Internet. Books and board games and gardening etc. can always help, but the Internet will make a lot of difference.

Yeah, they expect stabilisation this week and then the daily number of deaths to start dropping next week. Let's hope they are right, because there is not much else they can do.

Genuine question.

I have the necessary chemicals and ingredients to make cheese. Do you think there is any advantage in doing so?

Will obviously keep the whey and drink it. Cheese itself will store for longer than fresh milk.

Discussed this with Brian yesterday - he is leaving packages unopened and untouched for 24 hours.

Is there a better idea?

The real problem comes with foodstuffs, like the milk we get delivered and the online shopping many people use - you cannot leave food unopened.

Imo don't go down this route. Even if the flash freezing hypothesis is true, it's not tested. We know heat denatures it, whilst cold can have the opposite effect.

If in doubt, heat, don't freeze.

As a means to preserve eggs?

The bulk of the calorific content of pasta will be the wheat flower and that can be stored indefinitely for all intents and purposes.

Plus you can use chickpeas as an emulsifier if you really get desparate!
